Hip Preservation Clinic

Return to doing what you love

“I am so grateful for Dr. Omer Mei Dan and his team. He made it possible for me to come back climbing even stronger; he saved my professional climbing career.”
— Sasha DiGiulian (Bilateral scope+PAO)

Welcome to the CU Sports Medicine Hip Preservation Clinic. Our passion is diagnosing, analyzing, and treating the full spectrum of hip and pelvis disorders.

Return To A Fulfilling Life and Active Lifestyle

There are many physicians who perform hip replacement surgery, a viable option for some patients, but our service is dedicated to the preservation of the hip and prolonging high level physical activity. Few physicians perform hip arthroscopy, and even fewer execute complex realignment procedures of the pelvis and upper femur. Given the difficulty of accurately diagnosing hip problems, patients often exhaust possibilities through countless visits to multiple physicians.

CU-Sports-Medicine-Hip-Clinic

A Team Experienced in Treating Multiple Disorders

Dr. Omer Mei-Dan is one of a select few surgeons in the nation who performs both high volume cutting edge hip arthroscopy AND dysplasia realignment procedures. Rather than visiting multiple surgeons who must collaborate to devise a treatment strategy, you will see one surgeon who can integrate the complexities of a case to devise the most efficient, long-term treatment plan.

Hip Preservation May Not be an Option for Everyone

When you no longer have a joint that can be preserved with nonsurgical and/or hip preservation techniques, a hip replacement may be the best option for you. Joining Dr. Mei Dan in practice after Three years of hip preservation specific training and a reconstructive surgery fellowship, Dr. Lee adds skills in hip reconstruction surgery (Total Hip Arthroplasty) to the team.

Unique Treatment Plans Devised for Each Patient

No two patients are the same; no two treatment plans are identical. The CU Hip Clinic Hip Preservation team has vast experience with patients coming from a myriad of backgrounds, inclusive of patients hoping to return to everyday activities and professional athletes vying for championships. Let us explore options together and walk together on the path to a pain-free, active lifestyle.

“Hi! Today marks my 5 year PAO anniversary. Thank you for giving me this life back as it continues to just get better and better!”
— Aiden Ryan (PAO)
“I had a fantastic experience working with Dr. Omer Mei-Dan and his team. He was the third surgeon I visited when ‘shopping’ for a solution for my hip pain. They listened to my concerns and goals and laid out a plan of action; I felt like they were as invested in the outcome as I was. Now I’m back to doing what I love, running trails for hours and days on end with no hip pain!”
— Kevin Goldberg (Bilateral Hip Scope)
“I wanted to share with you and the rest of the hip team an amazing visual update, 8 and 12 months after my Bilateral PAO’s. Thank you all, for giving me my life back!”
— Erika Muhlrad (Bilateral PAOs)
